Self-Care ... Why, What, Who?

    What qualifies me to guide you in making healthy self-care practices part of your daily life? Who am I to help guide you in liberating you from moods and feelings that can set you back from getting more joy from life?

    What qualifies me to guide you in making healthy self-care practices part of your daily life? Who am I to help guide you in liberating you from moods and feelings that can set you back from getting more joy from life?     Just like you, I am a work in progress. I have flaws. At times, there’s stuff I struggle with …

    … just like you, I haven’t got absolutely everything figured out.

    There’s the point, because this is my mission - to make self-care very achievable for you. I’m passionate about self-care and its power to help us to show up better not just for ourselves but those we care most about and others around us. From learning the value of valuing myself and the value of making self-care a priority. From a commitment to further develop self-awareness, along with the curiosity to figure things out and find ways to keep doing things better than before. These are driving forces. I totally get the potential consequences of letting self-care slide to the wayside (by experiencing it and observing those consequences) - it can impact how you feel about yourself, the way you show up - for yourself and for everyone who comes into contact with you, your results. Every. Aspect ...

     … of your Wellbeing, your Relationships and your Life.

    So, what is self-care anyway?

    At its core, self-care is about being your own loyal, best friend who puts you first. The friend that has your back through thick and thin, that cares deeply about your emotional, physical and spiritual wellbeing. The friend who knows you are worthy and values who you are. The friend who cares enough to help you see when you are going off track in some aspect of your life and will be there guiding you back. The friend who will not allow anyone to diminish you and your worth. The friend who forgives your errors and encourages you to learn and move on from them. The friend who celebrates your successes and personal growth. The friend who knows that your most important relationship is the one you have with yourself.

    Self-care is grounded in compassion towards you. It’s giving yourself kindness, care and empathy because there can come times when you’re perhaps not feeling so great about yourself, yet you still owe it to yourself to be accepting and kind rather than weighing yourself down with the dreaded inner critic.

    Self-care is making you and your wellbeing a priority.

    It’s vital to protect and nurture our wellbeing. What tends to happen, during times of high stress, is that our self-care can become particularly challenging to keep up. The truth is, this is precisely when self-care is needed most.

    That's why there are times when we could benefit from external support. We might know it's going to take more than booking a massage but we're not really looking for the services of a counsellor, therapist or traditional life coach either.
